"There are two common misconceptions regarding mental strength. The first misconception is that the attentional aspect of mental performance is some ethereal and complex thing that cannot be controlled or harnessed and learned... the second misconception is that our mindset and mental state, which are conscious and unconscious patterns of thinking, are the byproduct of environment, birthright, or circumstance rather than our personal responsibility." - Jason Van Camp

"At the end of practice, we had team meetings. During those meetings, Coach Belichick would show highlights and lowlights. It didn't matter who you were; he'd call you out and put you on a lowlight if you deserved it. Likewise, a highlight." - Jason Van Camp

"What I'm saying is that it's OK to complain. Complaining shows that you care about the unit. You want the unit to be the best, and when it's not, it bothers you. If you truly didn't care whether the unit succeeded or failed, then you wouldn't say anything. You would just be silent and watch as the unit collapsed into mediocrity... Here's the thing: you can complain all day, BUT you also need to offer a solution." - Jason Van Camp

"Listen, when we go out to train, you might ask yourself, "How is this training making me a better operator? My answer to you is, "it's not. It's making the guy next to you a better operator. That's the mindset that you need to have in this company." - Jason Van Camp

"Actions determine destiny: This is the basic idea of karma. My note: Karma literally means deed or action. We reap what we sow. Put in the work, and the results will take care of themselves. Be smart about your work though!" - The Bhagavad Gita

"Those established in Self-realization control their senses instead of letting their senses control them. If the senses are not controlled, Krishna warns, the mind (or emotions) will follow wherever they lead. Eventually a person following the senses loses strength of will and unity of purpose; his choices are dictated by his desires. When the will is led astray by the desire for pleasure, the mind becomes confused and scattered. Ultimately, Krishna warns, this leads to spiritual destruction. My note: When you become attached to something, you've lost. It is difficult to learn from mistakes when you're too attached to the outcome, or to holding onto something outside of your own mind-body system." - The Bhagavad Gita

"Ultimately, the Gita is not a book of commandments but a book of choices. It does mention sin, but mostly it talks about ignorance and its consequences. My note: Life is not about intelligence. It is about the consequences of ignorance. You are a book of choices." - The Bhagavad Gita

"Only the person who is utterly detached and utterly dedicated, Gandhi says, is free to enjoy life... those who are compulsively attached to the results of action cannot really enjoy what they do; they get downcast when things do not work out and cling more desperately when they do. So the Gita classifies the karma of attachment as pleasant at first, but "bitter as poison in the end," because of the painful bondage of conditioning." - The Bhagavad Gita
